BUILTH Wells have been crowned champions of Spar Mid Wales League Two.

The Lant Field club played out an eight goal thriller against title rivals Llansantffraid Village on Saturday with the champagne left on ice.

However a 4-0 win at home to Dolgellau Athletic ensured a Bank Holiday Monday to remember for the Bulls.

Builth will bring the curtain down on their home programme against local rivals Brecon Northcote on Saturday with a carnival atmosphere expected at Lant.

The club will be joined by Llansantffraid Village in a competitive first division next season.

The Bulls were relegated from Spar Mid Wales League One in 2014 and since rebuilt in the second division.

This season manager Chris Jones has masterminded the club’s return and could end the season with an unbeaten record.

Jones has backed the club to hold their own in the first division next season while renewing rivalries with local rivals Llandrindod Wells, Knighton Town and Radnor Valley.

Jones said: “We’ve met a few first division sides this season and I think we are only few players off competing at that level next season.

“Promotion was the aim at the start of the season and now we want to end with an unbeaten league record.”
