TALGARTH Town have stunned their rivals after resigning from Spar Mid Wales League Two with just a month of the season remaining.
The struggling King George Field club informed league officials last week with their record set to be expunged from the table.
Talgarth Town had played 20 of their scheduled 22 fixtures and their resignation is believed to be the among the latest in the modern history of a Mid Wales football season.
The club failed to raise a side for the scheduled trip to Llansantffraid Village and withdrew from the league ahead of their clash at Montgomery Town last weekend.
Following the failure to travel to Llansantffraid the club’s official social media account hit out at the squad.
“Another day of disgrace for the club,” said the post. “Despite hard work from the manager we were unable to raise a side to play. The selfishness of the squad appears to know no bounds. Hang your heads in shame.”
It is unknown whether the club plans to reform in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League South next season.
