THE fifth annual Andrew Lloyd Football Festival and Family Fun Day has been hailed a success.

A total of 34 sides contested 224 matches and yielded 402 goals culminated in a 2-0 win for the Minsterley based Gangsta’s Allerdyce over Forden’s Mange Tout.

Several new entries included a side from Welshpool Fire Station and two entries from Welshpool Ladies Rugby Club.

This year’s event was one of the biggest yet with Panic Circus, Woodland pack Company and Mid Wales Bouncy Castles keeping the children happy alongside the football.

Walking football was seen for the first time this year and led by Craig Edwards of Soccerholics and Lorraine Lloyd with the National Exercise Referral Scheme at Welshpool’s The Flash Leisure Centre.

Spokesperson Sian Knowles was delighted 334 days of planning and effort had made for another successful event.

“The committee would like to thank everyone who helped make the day a success,” said Knowles.
