RADNOR Valley Football Club wrote a new chapter in their history by booking a place in the final of the Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup on Sunday.

The New Radnor club won 2-1 at Builth Wells to book their place in the final of the county cup for the first time in their 97 year history.

Valley will now take on Spar Mid Wales League One rivals Knighton Town in the final in Presteigne on Easter Sunday.

Manager Paul Morgan said: “The lads are buzzing on making the final.

“I think we had the harder fixtures to make the final than Knighton and the lads deserve some silverware. They have worked really hard this season and have improved on last seasons performances.

“Knighton being our final opponents makes the occasion even bigger for the club, especially as our rivals and neighbours have had the better of us twice in the league. It’s going to be a very hard game and I can imagine it being well supported.”

Morgan backed his side to continue improving and making history.

“A majority of this squad started in the Mid Wales League South and won promotion to Spar Mid Wales League and then Spar Mid Wales League One.

“This squad loves breaking the club’s records so fingers crossed they can do it again on Easter Sunday by bringing home the county cup,” said Morgan.
