THE Central Wales Football Association (CWFA) suffered a 9-1 defeat against their North Wales Coast (NWCFA) counterparts in the Welsh Regions Cup last week.

The Central Wales side was selected from players registered with clubs in the Spar Mid Wales League, J T Hughes Montgomeryshire League, Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League and Costcutter Ceredigion League.

Newcastle Emlyn’s Adrian Hazelby scored the CWFA consolation but the North Wales side proved dominant throughout and sealed glory with two goals either side of half-time.

The coast side were led to glory by Llandudno Albion’s Ricky Jones and Dave Maddock who both scored twice with Jamie Jones and Dan Williams also completing doubles.

Allan Davies also struck for the visitors to settle a one sided contest at Park Avenue.

CWFA manager Andy Evans said: “The North Wales coast side ran out comfortable winners in the second-half and never looked in any danger.”

The Central Wales FA completed their Football Association of Wales (FAW) Regions Cup campaign with a trip to Airnus UK Broughton as the County Times went to press on Wednesday.

The Central Wales had been set to take on the North East Wales Football Association (NEWFA) representative side selected from the best players in the Wrexham Area League clubs and the North East Wales League.
