LLANIDLOES Town have withdrawn from the North Wales Women’s League.
The club cited the row between the league and the Football Association of Wales (FAW) which led to fixtures being suspended for the past month behind its decision to withdraw.
The league has since accepted Rhyl’s reserve side having originally refused and evoked punishment from the FAW as a result
The North Wales League has now been cleared to resume its programme with a mammoth fixture backlog between now and the end of the season.
However it will be without Llanidloes Town with the club hoping to reform next season.
A club statement read: “The league was suspended for a number of weeks and due to us not knowing if, or when, the league would re-start a number of the players made other commitments, either to other sports or work which is very understandable.
“The time it would take for people to recommit would make it very difficult for us to fulfil our fixtures in the short term so we have made the decision to continue training and if all the problems that have arisen this season are ironed out by the start of next season the club will reassess its position.”
The club’s record has been expunged from the league records and once again leaves Llanfair United as the region’s sole senior women’s club.
