NEWTOWN travel to troubled Carmarthen Town on Saturday as Chris Hughes’ men bid to add to the Old Gold’s woes.
Carmarthen terminated the contract of long serving manager Mark Aizlewood in midweek with the former Welsh international convicted for his part in a multi million pound fraud.
The Richmond Park club severed ties with the former Cardiff City defender after the 57 year old was found guilty of siphoning off £5m of government money through fake football apprenticeships.
The Robins provide the Old Gold’s first test since the midweek events with the hosts appointing former assistant Neil Smothers as caretaker manager.
In comparison Newtown make the trip in good heart after a rousing start to the second phase with a 4-3 victory at Llandudno last weekend.
However the result was blemished by the late dismissal of goalkeeper Dave Jones with the record appearance making shot stopper now facing suspension.
The Robins squad will be otherwise at full strength as Hughes plots to maintain the club’s bid for seventh place.
