SAM Davies completed a thrilling comeback as Montgomery Town stunned Aberystwyth University at Clos Tanymur.

The promotion chasing students led at the break with goals from Liam Powell and Matthew Roberts.

However Monty staged a dramatic fightback with James Coleman and Robbie Hartshorn restoring parity before Davies won the day at the last as the Canaries revival continued.

Brecon Northcote also delivered a blow to Llansantffraid Village’s promotion hopes with Craig Evans netting twice in a 3-0 win at Treflan.

Jordan Ingram completed the Stags tally as the Brecknock side climbed to fifth in the table.

Northcote manager Anthony Thornley said: “Not many teams will do that to Llansantffraid this season. We went up with a plan and it worked. The lads were buzzing after the game and we aim to push on now and challenge for a top three finish if we can.”

Dyffryn Banw celebrated a 2-0 win at basement side Penybont United with goals from Alwyn Jones and James Vaughan settling the outcome in favour of the Llangadfan visitors.

Elsewhere honours ended even as Newbridge and Presteigne battled out a 1-1 draw at Penbont Field.

Both sides were beset by selection woes due to illness and injury and gave their younger players the chance to shine.

Lyndon Jones netted for the hosts but Presteigne ensured a point with Rory Hackett’s low cross steered into his own net by a home defender as honours ended even.

Meanwhile Abermule celebrated all the way home after completing a 4-2 win at Hay St Marys.

Goals from Matt Tong and captain Chris Preece proved not enough for the Saints as the visiting villagers prevailed with goals from Sam Hamer, Jack Clare, Will Denham and Nick Mumby winning the day.
