Penrhyncoch 1 Holywell Town 0

SION James was the match winner as Penrhyncoch maintained their end of season form by humbling Holywell Town at Cae Baker.

The Wellmen started brightly with Mark Winslade denied by goalkeeper Lee Jenkins before Jake Cooke spurned a cross from Phil Lloyd over the bar.

Jenkins continued to be kept busy and produced another smart save to deny Matty Harvey as the first-half ended deadlocked.

However the Roosters grew in confidence and came to impose themselves after the break with James heading just wide while Jonny Evans also went close with a free-kick.

Penrhyn led on the hour with James rising to head home Harri Horwood’s corner.

Holywell’s challenge faded with only a few half chances created with the home defence marshalled superbly by the veteran pairing of James and Jon Foligno.

Despite goalkeeper Jenkins sustaining a rib injury late on the depleted Roosters still had enough in the locker to see out the game and end their home campaign on a high.
