GUILSFIELD hit the road for Gresford Athletic tonight (Friday).

The match will be staged at Cefn Druids’ Rock Stadium as the league looks to make inroads into a growing fixture backlog.

Memories of the reverse fixture last month remain fresh in the mind with the Wrexham side docked three points in the aftermath of four dismissals and a player walk off.

Guils manager Nathan Leonard called for a reaction after his side crashed out of the Huws Gray Cup at Holyhead last week.

“It was a hugely disappointing performance,” said Leonard. “We struggled against 10 men and didn’t do enough to win the game.

“We must have had 80 per cent possession but couldn’t break them down.

“We lacked tempo and the workrate was not what I expect and we got punished late on. Holyhead deserved the win, they wanted it more.

“I’ll be after a big reaction on Friday night. We will be working on our weaknesses at training and hopefully we will see a big improvement.

“They are on a decent run and play good football. It should be a good game but we need three points. It’s as simple as that.”
