Caersws 0 Denbigh 2

CAERSWS slumped to their 14th defeat of the season as relegation clouds continued to cast over the Recreation Ground.

The villagers were indebted to goalkeeper David Jones whose early saves kept a dominant Denbigh at bay with saves to deny Craig Pritchard and Andy Swarbrick.

However the pressure finally told in the 35th minute when Matt Worrall broke the deadlock after Caersws lost possession on the edge of the area.

The turning point in the game arrived on the stroke of half-time when Steve Blenkinsop was clattered in the area.

However referee Arron Wyn Jones left the home bench livid with Blenkinsop cautioned for simulation.

Denbigh continued to take the game to the villagers after the break with Andy Swarbrick and Craig Pritchard both testing Jones.

However Caersws also carved a handful of openings with Blenkinsop and Lance Jones forcing saves from goalkeeper Keighan Jones.

Denbigh doubled their lead with 20 minutes remaining with a swift break culminating in a cool finish past Jones by Swarbrick.

Caersws went for broke in a vain search for a route back into the game with Richard Davies twice going close late on.

Manager Graham Evans said: “I am disappointed with the overall performance and have no qualms about the result. We need a reaction now as Saturday was not good enough.

“We need to roll up our sleeves with games coming thick and fast from now until the end of the season.

“We need to cut out simple mistakes which have cost us all season”
