Guilsfield 1 Porthmadog 3

GUILSFIELD were stung at home to Porthmadog who hit back to claim the points courtesy of a Sion Bradley double.

Both sides looked to impose themselves early on with Joe Chaplin a threat for the visitors while Sam Litchfield’s shot was blocked on the line by Ceri James at the other end.

Cai Jones lashed wide before setting up Chaplin whose shot shook the upright as Porthmadog continued to take the game to the hosts.

However it was the Guils who led on 28 minutes with Adam Jenkins latching onto a weighted lobbed pass from Jake Cook to slot beyond goalkeeper Richard Harvey.

Porthmadog levelled five minutes before the break with Julian Williams rising on the near post to steer home a corner from Gareth Jones-Evans.

A lively start to the second-half began with Andy Ford drilling agonisingly wide for the Guils.

At the other end a long range blast from Bradley struck the bar with Cai Jones’ follow up effort ruled out for offside.

Porthmadog were dealt a blow on the hour with Rob Evans dismissed for a second caution.

As snow continued to fall the hosts had been expected to use their numerical advantage with conditions becoming all the more testing.

Guilsfield laid siege to the Porthmadog goal with the 10 men defending stoutly and restricting their hosts to a handful of openings as Chris Cathrall shook the woodwork.

With 12 minutes remaining the Guils were stung when a weighted throughball from Chaplin released Bradley to round goalkeeper Lee Andrew and slot home.

Guilsfield looked to respond but instead a Cai Jones throughball once again released Bradley to complete his brace with four minutes remaining.

Porthmadog could have extended their winning margin at the death with Bradley setting up Meilir Williams only for Andrew to produce a smart save.

Both Bradley and Jones went close in the last few seconds of thegame as a shell shocked Guilsfield slumped to defeat.
