MONTGOMERY IIs endured a day to forget in a 71 run defeat against Frankton IIs in division one of the reserve league.

Keith Griffiths (3-32) and Charlie Kinsey (2-27) restricted Frankton to150-7 with Grant McKay (34no) top scoring.

Only Griffiths (13no) and Andrew Barker (10) posted double figures in reply as McKay (3-16) completed Monty’s demise for 79.

Meanwhile Alberbury IIs were on the wrong end of an 88 run defeat at Worfield IIs.

Tom Rees (70) and Lewis Rollason (54) starred as the hosts posted 217 to defend with Neil Savage (3-47), Oliver Corbett (2-24), Preston Fletcher (2-55) and Steve Jarrett (2-33) leading the attack.

Kurt Finnigan (32) and Rob Owen (29) top scored in reply but Chris Wallis (5-58) ensured Alberbury’s demise for 129.

Elsewhere Newtown IIs maintained their promotion bid with a battling two wicket win at Allscott IIs in division two.

Jack Williams (3-39), Sam Morris (2-20), Danny Foulkes (2-22) and Jonathon Davies (2-27) restricted the hosts to 182-9 with Richard Addison (87) top scoring for the Sugarmen.

Aaron Knight (62) and Richard Smout (46) guided Town to 185-8 in reply despite the best efforts of Dan Brentnall (3-21) and Addison (3-28).

Meanwhile Alberbury IIIs celebrated their first win of the season in a 69 run win at home to Madeley IIIs in division two of the Sunday League.

Alex Hughes (44), Tom Haigh (35) and Henry Wilson (23) chipped in before Huw Roberts (25no) and Ed Roberts (24no) guided Alberbury to 233-7 to defend while Luke Carroll (3-54) led Madeley’s wicket haul.

Rob Davies (3-50) and Steve Morris (3-36) were joined by Haigh (2-19) and Ed Roberts (2-20) in toppling Madeley for 164 in reply with Tom Mumford (43) and Charlie Rudge (26) top scoring.
