Montgomery 188-9 drew with church aston 151-9

MONTGOMERY had to be content with a draw at home to Church Aston.

Birthday boy Tom Corfield led the hosts top order with a maiden half century after opening partner Andrew Barker and Aaron Ruff-Cock departed cheaply.

Corfield (52) was joined by Ieuan Griffiths (33) in working the Lymore scoreboard with middle order support from Sam Williams (25) and Rob Bennett (11) pushing Monty to 188-9 to defend.

Raj Valgi (4-78) led the Church Aston wicket haul with support from Jon Barlett (2-15) and Praveen Korabandi (2-28).

Ruff-Cock led Monty’s reply with two early wickets as Aman Kauldhar was caught by Corfield for two before catch and bowling Aron Thomas for two.

Ruff-Cock also provided the safe hands to catch Sampanna Mohite off Neil Tuffin (1-17) for 15.

Church Aston’s middle order steadied the ship with Richard Bennett (32), Ed Bennett (15), Thanigaviel Mani (20) and Raf Chopra (28) frustrating Monty.

Charlie Kinsey (1-17) and Ruff-Cock (3-58) struck before Lennon Bryan (3-37) seized the day.

Andrew Barker ran out Barlett for a duck to leave Valgi (8no) and Mike Swales (0no) to defend the final wicket and dig in for 151 to deny Monty a deserved win.
