BUILTH Wells crashed to a heavy 129 run defeat at Garnons in division one of the GB Liners Marches League.

Tyler Garrard (21) and James Debenham (20) built an early partnership with Mike Williams (2-52) limiting their progress before Phil Williams (121) and and Andy Johnson (61) firmly put Garnons in the driving seat.

Tom James (44no) added valuable late runs as the hosts set an imposing 308.

The loss of early wickets put Builth on the back foot and were soon 90-5 as seamer Alan Jones (5-35) ripped the heart out of their order.

Skipper Sam Williams (75) stood alone against the onslaught until Mike Williams (23) and Paul Rowe (18no) added late runs before James (4-22) ended the Bulls resistance for 179.

Williams said: “We needed to build partnerships but lost wickets too regularly.”

Meanwhile Builth Wells IIs eased to an eight wicket defeat at home to Goodrich in division three.

Ezra Tattersall (2-22) led the Bulls attack before Phil Ward(19) and Patrick Milinczuk (25) restored some order.

However Cameron Beehan (3-21) and Ben Cripps (3-12) polished off Goodrich for just 86.

Builth wasted little time in claiming victory as unbeaten Tattersall (35) completed a fine all round performance before Martin Hurst (22) took Builth to the brink.

Skipper Stuart Cripps said: “We bowled well, made seven catches catches and batted impressively so it was a good day all round.”

Meanwhile Presteigne also celebrated a 213 run win at home to Bartestree IIIs.

Will Kleiser, Will Bartholomew (54) and Mark Ammonds (29) struck before Robin Sparey (52no) guided the hosts to 294-5 to defend.

Kleiser (2-14), Greg Chilman (2-11), Aaron Powell (2-9) and Andrew Bray (2-8) completed Bartestree’s dismissal for 81 in reply with Mike Berry (29) top scoring for the visitors
