Montgomery 179-9 beat Wheaton Aston 45 all out by 129 runs
Montgomery issued a title edict with a 129 run against Wheaton Aston.
After missing the first two games of the season as result of the weather, the 24 points gave the Lymore side the perfect platform to launch their title challenge.
Tim Davies top scored with 32 while skipper Sam Williams (25) was joined by Rob Bennet (25), Tom Corfield (19) and Alex Bromley (16no) in guiding Monty to 179-9.
Wheaton Aston got off to the worst possible start in reply when star batsman Nathan Whittington retired hurt.
The Monty attack proved too hot to handle as Sam Williams completed a man of the match performance with 4-6 while Patrick Fletcher (2-9), Alex Bromley (2-18) and Harry Wilkinson (1-6) all starred with leather in hand.
Williams said: “It was a great team effort with everyone contributing to the win.”
Meanwhile Bishops Castle were unable to build on their positive start to the season with their home clash with Shifnal IIIs cancelled.
