Welshpool 83 all out lost to Pontesbury 85-3 by seven wickets
WELSHPOOL endured a day to forget in a seven wicket defeat at Pontesbury in division one of the Henshalls Shropshire League.
Pool were undone by their batting order with only Paul Chapman mustering double figures before Greg Jones’ tail end rally helped Pool to just 83 to defend.
Stephen Wilson (4-22) led the home wicket haul and included the prize wicket of Chapman (27).
Support from Matt Ramsay (3-18) and Henry Morris (2-18) had Pool on the ropes before ex-Newtown player Mike Bellamore stepped up to the plate and dismissed Jones for 13 to complete Pool’s collapse for just 83.
Impressive Pontesbury opener Owen Morris carried his bat in reply and helped his side to clinch victory inside 19 overs.
Joe Monk (2-20) was joined by Rob Anderson (1-26) in ensuring the hosts top order began to wobble.
However Dave Thomas (10no) joined Morris (53no) in an unbeaten fourth wicket stand to guide Pontesbury to 85-3 and a seven wicket win.
