AMBITIOUS Guilsfield and Llandrinio will be gunning for promotion to the third division this season.

Captain and wicketkeeper Andy Trow will lead the club for a third season as the Guils target promotion from the fourth division.

Having secured sponsorship from Tangles Hair Studio the village club goes into the summer with confidence high.

Trow said: “The league looks even more competitive this year with the additions of Treysull, Corvedale and the newly formed Colum all if whom I expect to be strong along with Bridgenorth.

“I expect us to be up there challenging for the top spots again this year with promotion the aim after two seasons of stability for the club,” said Trow.

The Guils have bid farewell to Chris Proctor and Nathan Baines who have both returned to Welshpool while Jonathon Peate comes in the opposite direction.

Guilsield have also welcomed the arrival of allrounder Bobby Gill from Church Aston.

Top batsman Sam Griffiths will open alongside Garry Lewis and spearhead a batting order which will include the free scoring Gill along with Gary Meredith and Dave Lewis who made 182 and 207 runs in 2017 respectively.

Sam Birch will lead the bowling attack along with Gary West, Dave Court and the spin of exciting newcomer Gill and the always dependable form of pace bowler Sam Griffiths.

Trow said: “It’s a strong unit which I’m excited to see in action.

“We are all looking forward to the season and promotion to third division will be the aim for Guilsfield and Llandrinio in 2018.”
