THE New Saints lost 1-0 to Lithuanian side FK Suduva in Marijampole, thanks to an 89th minute strike.

Sergej Koziuberda scored the late goal in Marijampole.

And the Saints were lucky not to go 2-0 down very late on - which might have signalled the end of their UEFA Cup hopes - as two shots were cleared off the line, one by Phil Baker.

However, the Saints still have real hope for the return leg of the UEFA Cup first qualifying round at Latham Park, Newtown, on Thursday, July 31.
