TONY Springer's perfect display narrowly failed to pocket maximum points for Newtown IIs at home to Bomere Heath.
Springer made a crucial contribution to Newtown’s overall total with a middle order knock of 55. Support from skipper Ricky Davies (37), Ali Jones (18) and Sameer Powar (17) steered Newtown to 207-8.

Jonathan Davies (3-40) rocked Bomere’s top order in reply with only Kenny James (32) offering resistance.

Andrew Oliver (23) and Andrew Gittins (31) were bowled by Springer (3-24) as they began to settle.

However Newtown failed to finish the job as Matt Jones (2no) steered Bomere IIs to 154-9 and a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere Welshpool IIs crashed by six wickets at Madeley IIs.

Welshpool had reason to be confident after Paul Chodecki (27), Rob Preston (43), Rob Davies (37) and Chris Pearce (33) ensuring their side closed on 184-6.

Madeley stuttered in response but a decisive 111 run third wicket partnership from Chris Hodson (78no) and Steve Maden (52) saw Madeley home in the 39th over.
