Rhayader rip through Aber's Commoners
RHAYADER quickly got over their disappointment at Llandovery by confidently dispatching the college Commoners.
John Pugh (3-14) supported by some excellent slip catching from brother Tom set the university side back before Bill Somerfield (21) and Richard Moore-Colyer (12no) offered resistance.
However the introduction of leg spinner Aaron Jones (5-11) completely overwhelmed the lower order as Aberystwyth University Commoners collapsed for a meagre 75 all out.
In response Paul Rowe (14) and Jones (13) got the home side off to a good start.
Dai Davies (42) wasted little time in giving Rhayader the advantage with eight boundaries to ensure a rapid end to proceedings.
Somerfield (2-6) giving the home side the jitters but Rhayader held firm for a six wicket win.
Rhayader skipper Paul Rowe said: "Again it was a good all round team effort, we caught well early on and that bred confidence.
"Dai's knock was just what we needed as there was a danger of getting bogged down chasing a small total.”
