KNIGHTON Town chairman Gary Cooper has insisted the club will bounce back following a nightmare season.
The club looks doomed to relegation following a rapid decline in the Spar Mid Wales League.

However Cooper insists the Robins will bounce back and use next season to rebuild the club.

“It has been a difficult season and obviously it is disappoi
nting to end in the relegation places,” said Cooper.

“The club is just looking to get this season out of the way before focusing on rebuilding for next season, whether it be in the Spar Mid Wales League or Watson Associates Mid Wales League (South).

“One thing for sure is that Knighton Town Football Club will bounce back from this season and return to the Mid Wales League.

“We have rebuilt in the past and we are confident of doing the same next season.”

The club parted company with manager Mike Wells just a few weeks into the season with Stuart Jarvis stepping in as player-manager.

The club were boosted by a mid-season sponsorship deal with local firm Coinspinner, which was hailed a the most significant in the club’s history.

A miserable league season was only saved by success in the Radnorshire Cup Final and a promising season enjoyed by their reserve side in the Watson Associates Mid Wales League (South.).

“The club is in OK shape off the pitch but there will be one or two changes over the summer before we start rebuilding the club for the future.,” added Cooper.

The Robins could face a three point deduction for failing to fulfil a fixture at Newbridge earlier this month.

Cooper said:“Our main problem this season has been travelling to midweek games. We have just not been able to raise a team to fulfil the fixtures.”

n Meanwhile border rivals Presteigne have begun the search for a new manager following the departure of title winning boss Adriano Girolami last week.

All applicants are asked to contact chairman Tony Wood on (01544) 267254 or 07900216507 with the closing date Friday, May 16.
