NEW Welsh-pool Town signing Timmy Edwards is relishing the next chapter of his career which starts with his debut at Newtown on Saturday (2.30pm).
The 36-year-old defender has lifted league titles with two clubs and is confident he has made the right decision in leaving Cefn Druids.

"My circumstances changed at Druids and I was delighted that Welshpool Town were interested.

"I am still hungry for success and want to make the most out of the remaining few years of my career at Welshpool.

"There is a decent squad already at the club and I am confident that we can end the long wait for a cup."

Edwards makes his Lilywhites debut at Newtown having represented the Robins on loan in 2002.

"Newtown is a tremendous club who made me feel very welcome during my short time on loan.

"I still have a few friends at Latham Park but on Saturday I will be going all out to make sure Welshpool Town get three points."

Welshpool Town arrive at Latham Park having not lost there in the league since 2004, but manager Tomi Morgan insists records mean nothing in derbies.

"It is just another game on the calendar but obviously it is an important game for both sets of fans," he said.

"Timmy will be signed and available for his debut and we also hope to tie-up Andy Mulliner's transfer from Caersws."

However Welshpool's early season injury problems have continued with defender John Keegan struggling with an ankle injury.

Keegan joins defender Kyle Jacobs and midfielder Richie Harris on the Lilywhites' treatment table.

"We have had a difficult start to the season with our injury problems but it is important to get our first win under our belts now," added Morgan.

Meanwhile Newtown manager Darren Ryan has warned that any repeat of last week's first-half display against Airbus UK will not be tolerated.

"We were simply abysmal," said Ryan. "The players know they cannot perform like that in this league. Welshpool Town have a great record at Latham Park but we must look to get some points on the board after last week's disappointment."

With Craig Moses struggling through injury Ryan hopes to pep up his attack over the weekend.

"We have a few irons in the fire and hopefully we can make a signing or two before the close of the transfer window," he said.

Meanwhile Glenn Tolley has been released by the club after relocating to London, with the Robins on the verge of signing midfielder Craig Hutchinson from Gap Connah's Quay.

"Craig is just the kind of player we need and his ball winning abilities in midfield will provide a huge boost," added Ryan.
