WELSHPOOL threw away a two goal interval lead as newboys Prestatyn Town maintained their impressive unbeaten start at Bastion Road.
Steve Rogers had struck his 100th top flight goal before Ross Stephens doubled the Lilywhites’ lead with his third league goal of the season.
However Prestatyn hit back after the break through Mike Parker before Ian Griffiths levelled with five mi
nutes remaining.
Welshpool had survived an early scare when a poor clearance from goalkeeper Danny Jones fell for Parker who found Griffiths, who set-up Steve Bowes who miskicked from a good position.
Bowes looked to return the favour for Griffiths on 17 minutes but the Prestatyn striker fired over.
Welshpool weathered the storm and on 34 minutes took the lead with Rogers slotting past Jon Hill-Dunt after being released by Paul Roberts.
Welshpool then needed a reprieve at the other end as Dave Hayes’ goalbound header needed to cleared off the line by Will Thomas.
With two minutes remaining of the half Welshpool doubled their lead when Roberts drilled a low left wing cross for Stephens to rifle home.
Prestatyn showed true character to hit back within five minutes of the second-half. A long ball forward by Steve Hoult found Dan Evans on the left wing who crossed for Parker to scramble past Danny Jones.
Jones then needed to be at his best as Griffiths tried his luck from fully 30 yards.
Griffiths continued to hassle the visiting defence and on 59 minutes his shot was blocked on the line by George Hughes.
Welshpool were now firmly under the cosh with Prestatyn causing them problems - particularly from set-pieces. Jones tipped over Evans' dipping cross with Hayes, Bowes and Griffiths also going close for Prestatyn.
With five minutes remaining the equaliser arrived with Bowes right wing cross sidefooted home by Griffiths.
Welshpool Town manager Tomi Morgan said: "We have drawn our two opening games and its something for us to build on. Prestatyn are a decent side that never gave up and deserve a lot of credit for their second-half comeback.”
