CHRIS Gethin was the hero with a scrappy winner saving Berriew's blushes against a spirited Caersws Reserves.
Berriew led inside the opening quarter with Neil Pryce scrambling home a loose ball after Luke Murray failed to hold Mark Jones’ fierce drive.
Berriew continued to toil with no reward and were stunned when the Bluebirds hit back to level through Peter Rees after good work by Nathan Prodger.
Manager Russell Cadwallader introduced Gethin and the substitute repaid the faith by scrambling the Rhiewsiders back into the lead with 10 minutes remaining.
The hosts survived a late let-off when the ball appeared to strike Mark Probert’s arm in the box but Caersws’ penalty claims were waved away as the home side held on.
