JOHN Foster marked his return to Broadway with the only goal to earn Llandrindod Wells a 1-0 win against Penybont United on the opening day.
Penybont fielded no fewer than seven summer signings but failed to impress.

Gwernyfed handed out an early title warning with a 7-1 success at Builth Wells, whose new boss, Mike Lloyd, had to endure a baptism of fire.

Builth were in contention following a first half which ended 1-1, with Jamie Evans cancelling out Rob McNamara's opener.

However Gwernyfed stepped it up after the break with McNamara grabbing three more with Gavin Perry, Ryland Warren and Matt Myles also on target.

Presteigne Reserves swept to a 4-0 success over St Harmon with strikes from Steve Kay, Nigel Duggan, Alan Stocker and Rob Williams who completed the tally with a 30 yard lob.

In the day's other game Penybont Athletic failed to get off to a winning start and went down 3-0 at Sennybridge. Mike Price gave Senny an early lead and second half goals from Dave Burgess and Paul Richardson sealed victory.
