JAMIE Smart struck twice as perennial underdogs Kerry caused an early season shock at TNS Reserves.
Kerry manager Tim Williams said: “This was a great performance and it shows that we can match anyone on our day.

“The lads enjoy games at Park Hall and we can take a lot of positives from this result.”

Mike Coverdale nodded home a Liam Andrew corner to gift Kerry an early lead.

Carl Danson met Jamie Selvey’s free-kick to double the lead before Danson crossed for Smart to open his account.

TNS reduced the arrears through Gary Bromley on the hour but the villagers were not to be denied their victory.

Recent signing Martin Lewis came off the bench to blast home a Danny Jones cross before Smart completed the tally with 15 minutes left.

TNS RES: Barker, R Evans, S Jones, Dempsey, Brisborne, McKenna, Marriott, T Jones, T Evans, Whitfield, Bromley. Subs: Butler, A Jones, Ward, Ramsey, E Davies

KERRY: Ward, T Jones, M Morgan, Coverdale, Andrew, McWatt, Bayliss, Selvey, D Jones, Danson, Smart. Subs: D Rees, Pryce, M Lewis
