STUART Eyres struck a divine half century to inspire Alberbury IIs to a four wicket win at home to Church Aston.
Anand Ranade opened brightly for Aston, with the bat, but his departure sparked a complete top order collapse.

Justin Deacon (35) and Raj Patel (38) revived the tail end but Preston Fletcher (3-37) and Steve Jarrett (2-30) ensured Aston were removed for 172.

Elliot Brookes (33) and Jarrett (34) opened brightly in reply but it was left to Eyres (50) and Richard Holloway (19no) to save the day to complete victory in the 39th over.

Elsewhere Montgomery IIs’ inconsistent season continued in a seven wicket thrashing against Hinstock.

Only Mel Roberts (38) and Gareth Jones (33) offered any resistance as John Taylor (8-49) ripped through them.

Montgomery were dismissed for 128 with Hinstock’s cautious reply seeing them triumph in the 42nd over.

John Leah (40) and Keith Goucher (25no) starred for Hinstock with Mark Cadwallader (2-41) the pick of the bowlers for Monty.
