DYLAN McPhee marked his Llanidloes debut with a superb allround display in a winning draw at home to Cound.
The county skipper completed his switch from Rhayader in time to make his bow and made an instant impact.

“Dylan is a superb signing and a player like him represents two signings such is his quality as an allrounder,” said skipper Robert Jones.

“With Andrew Evans also close to returning I am confident this result can act as a springboard for the rest of the season.

“We are still awaiting our first win of the season but I am confident that we are heading in the right direction.”

The early loss of opener Adrian Foulkes (5) was compensated by the superb batting debut of newboy McPhee.

McPhee joined David Williams in a confident second wicket stand before the latter was caught for 19 by Greg Lawrence off Chris Brothwood.

When Tom Goodman became Brothwood’s (2-32) second victim for a paltry one Llanidloes feared the worst.

However, Rob Davies soon steadied the ship and alongside the confident McPhee (32) top scored with 38.

Simon Jones added a stubborn 17 with Marc Hughes (23no) seeing Llanidloes to a respectable 163-6 in 45 overs.

Matt Jones (2-16) was the pick of the Cound bowling attack and went on to have an even larger impact when the visitors launched a reply.

While the Llanidloes bowling attack had little trouble removing his partners they found Jones in staunch form.

Jones survived several dropped catches and was eventually snared LBW for 48 by Foulkes (3-35)

With Jones departed the Cound order failed to perform with McPhee (1-40), Robert Jones (1-16) and Rob Davies (1-19) putting in purposeful bowling displays.

However, Llanidloes could not break up the seventh-wicket stand of Jim Cadwallader (15no) and Rob McIntosh (15no who remained at the crease to force a draw.
