BUILTH Wells have unveiled successful junior league manager Mike Lloyd as the head of the club's new managerial set-up.
The Lant club moved to appoint Lloyd following his success in coaching the successful Builth Road junior set-up in the Mid and North Powys Junior Football League last season.
Lloyd has previous experience with local rivals Rhayader Town and succee
ds Simon Edwards at the helm.
Lloyd said: “Our short term aim for next season is to provide some stability.
“Builth Wells Football Club has an impressive set-up with its ground, changing rooms and clubhouse all up to standard for admittance into the Spar Mid Wales League.
“However certainly for the foreseeable future I want to bring through young talent and stabilise in the Watson Associates Mid Wales League (South).
Lloyd will be assisted by Andy Harrison and coach Shaun Hackett during his first season at the Lant.
Lloyd confirmed the youngsters he helped mould in the junior leagues, at Builth Road, will follow him into senior football.
“The lads won their cup last season and came second in the league,” said Lloyd. “They will greatly benefit from playing at Builth Wells and the club’s youth system will be a lot stronger for having them.”
Meanwhile Lloyd insists restoring the Wyesiders to former glories will be a long-term process.
“I am not setting any targets,” said Lloyd. “The plan is to consolidate, while introducing promising local talent into senior football.
“I will also be looking to sign a few players to boost our playing squad.”
Builth Wells were relegated from the Spar Mid Wales League in 2000 - ending a 12 year unbroken association with the league.
However despite the club’s enviable facilities Builth have struggled to mount a challenge for honours.
The 2004 runners-up spot remains the club’s highest finish since relegation to the bottom tier of Welsh football.
