BUILTH Wells celebrated a timely tonic in a 40 run victory at first division high-flyers Crickhowell.
Builth had struggled to post a defendable target on a damp wicket and were dismissed for a disappointing 158.

Gerald Morgan (6) and Sam Buckler (3) departed cheaply before Wintson Williams and Tim Richards revived the innings with a third wicket p
artnership of 64.

Richards was trapped LBW for 23 and Ian Morgan quickly followed for 12.

Williams finally fell for 45 including seven fours to be replaced by skipper Nic Lee, who smashed 19 in two overs before becoming the fifth LBW victim.

Gary McIlroy ensured the tail-end wagged with a useful 14 as Builth closed on 158.

Crickhowell enjoyed a bright start to their reply but were soon on the backfoot as veteran bowler Rob Wall unleashed his magic.

For the third consecutive match the veteran ended with a five wicket haul to end with an impressive 5-15, while Eric De Greeve (3-34) was equally clinical as the hosts slumped for just 118.

Llandrindod Wells impressed in their 58 run victory over Glangrwyney, with an impressive 4-32 from Mark Evans ensuring a priceless verdict for the visiting Radnorshire side.

The Spamen opened the batting and a 97 run second wicket partnership between Robin Edwards (59) and Maritz Booysen (41) helped them to 162-4 with Nigel Mills (20no) and Martin Hurst (27no) also contributing.

Hurst (2-24) accounted for both openers in reply with Steve Fuller (2-22) also on form but the top bowler of the day was Evans, who produced a tight eight over spell to end with 4-32 and dismiss the hosts for 104.

Elsewhere Presteigne celebrated a rare victory with an eight wicket win over Bartestree easing their basement concerns in division three.

Early success saw Gary Rhodes bowl Bartestree opener Geoff Jones enroute to a tight spell of 3-33.

Billy Davies (3-59), Tom Ammonds (2-24) and Robin Sparey (2-27) finished the job as Bartestree struggled to post 155 all out.

Ian Carr (48) top scored for Bartestree with support from Jack Blankley (25).

Presteigne’s victory was never in doubt as Billy Davies (61no) and Tom Ammonds (69) took their side to the brink of a crucial victory.

Nick Bartholomew joined man of the match Billy Davies to see Presteigne over the line with 20 overs spare.

Meanwhile Builth Wells IIs also celebrated a rare victory in division four.

Ryland Wallace (38) and Alex Denning (37) top scored for Abergavenny Beavers to close on 116-8.

Chris Burton (3-12) was the pick of the bowling attack, while Richard King (2-38) enjoyed a tight 12 over spell.

A 59 run first wicket partnership between Richard Galton (21) and Kevin Hall (20) laid solid foundations as Builth marched to a six wicket victory.

James Bowers struck an unbeaten 34, while Adam Morgan (13) secured victory in the 37th over.

Meanwhile Knighton’s match at Woolhope IIs was a victim of the weather.
