Three points deducted

TECHNOGROUP Welshpool have been dealt a hammer blow with the deduction of three points.

The club already lies 10 points adrift at the bottom of the Hiws Gray Alliance after a previous rule infringement saw them deducted points to leave the club with minus points.

The latest deduction follows a Huws Gray Alliance disciplinary meeting on Wednesday night which ruled Welshpool had failed to fulfil its October fixture at Penrhyncoch.

General manager Liam Pritchard said: "This is a blow to the club as we felt we had
strong grounds for appeal because of a number of factors.

"We don't feel we were given proper notice of the fixture being rearranged so we feel the deduction is unfair.

"The board have spoken and there's not a lot we can do now because appealing is prohibitively expensive."

Welshpool have endured the most turbulent two years in their history with the decline beginning when the club conceded defeat in its battle to develop Welsh Premier compliant stadium.

Following their relegation to the Huws Gray Alliance, manager Graham Evans resigned in the wake of the club's initial points deduction before replacement Mike Barton lasted just 26 days before falling out with chairman Mike Dawkins to plunge the club into further crisis.

New manager Chris Herbert - the fourth of 2010 for the Lilywhites - has since snapped up a virtually new squad but faces a massive struggle with the club now a massive 21 points adrift of their closest rivals.
