THE Welsh Bowling Association held their men’s championships at Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club last week.
The five day bowls marathon ended with success for Mid Wales as Llandrindod Wells brothers Ray and Ken Price won the open pairs and were joined by Barry Harrison and Brian Jones in winning the over 60s rink.
Victory in the over 60s rink final saw the foursome beat Machynlleth’s David Lewis, David Thomas, David Rowlands and Barry Fleming 20-9.
The Price brothers then upset the script by beating Phil Taylor and Lee Greenslade of Bridgend 24-12 in the open pairs final.
Mid Wales interest also continued to the wet finals on the Friday afternoon, with the Open Fours final seeing Presteigne brothers Brian, Stuart, David and Robert Weale take home silverware.
The Weale boys played their part in a competitive final against the Vale of Glamorgan’s Lee Stanley, Brian Parrish, Chris Wright and Craig Blake before running out 23-16 victors.
Other notable Mid Wales performances were Dale Gorman, David Weale and Robert Weale of Presteigne who reached the semi-finals of the triples event.
