Gap Connah’s Quay boss Ken Price has voiced concerns over the physical demands placed on his side as they attempt to break into the top 10.

Nomads’ have 11 matches left to play in just 46 days as they aim to close the 16 point gap on 10th placed Airbus ahead of the league re-shuffle for 2010/11.

And Price, who saw his side succumb to a late Prestatyn leveller on Saturday, believes that the size of his squad and current injury problems are a concern – especially with a crucial game at Welshpool this evening, (7.30pm).

“We have a small squad,” explained Price. “When you get injuries to those in the squad like Sam McNutt, Stuart Cook and Allan Glover it becomes difficult.

“At times we are stuck for options, but we are working very hard with what we’ve got to put things right. We will keep going right until the final game of the season.
“Everyone is determined to give it everything and we will pick ourselves up and go again.”

Price is boosted by the return to full fitness of McNutt and Glover, although Cook is still struggling with a knee injury and will miss the clash at Maes-y-Dre.

Super 12 hopefuls Bala Town entertain Newtown this evening anxiously looking over their shoulders at the chasing pack.

The men from Maes Tegid were edged out 1-0 by The New Saints on Friday, while Airbus and 11th placed Carmarthen Town closed the gap on Bala with victories over Caersws and Port Talbot Town respectively.

And Bala boss Colin Caton expects there to be more twists and turns between now and the end of the campaign.

“There is a long way to go yet,” he said when asked about the prospect of lining up in the top tier of Welsh football next season.

“We are making huge strides on and off the pitch but we are taking nothing for granted.”

The top two in the league are also in action as title favourties Llanelli face a tough home encounter with fifth placed Port Talbot and The New Saints make their way to Carmarthen, who still have work to do to finish in the top 10.
