LLANIDLOES Town strengthened their title bid in Honda Division One, with a 4-0 win over Llangedwyn.


Matthew Savage scored twice as the Daffodfils underlined their ambitions, with Craig Stephens and Barry Bellis goals completing the tally.


Meifod also stayed in contention for promotion, with the inform Phil Hughes netting twice in a 3-2 win over bitter local rivals Four Crosses.


An own goal completed Meifod’s tally, while James Whittaker and Gareth Jones replied for Crosses.


Honours were even in Trewern United’s 2-2 draw with Technogroup Welshpool Reserves.


Mike Davies scored twice for the hosts, while George Clifton replied with a brace for Pool.


Bishops Castle Town eased their relegation fears with a 4-2 victory at home to Guilsfield Reserves.


Castle maintained their revival with an own goal and strikes from Ben Edwards, John Hudson and Paul Woosnam cancelled out replies from Stuart Buckley-Robins and David Williams.


Meanwhile Trefonen closed on the Mitsubishi Division Two title with a 7-1 thrashing of Llansanffraid Village Reserves at Treflan.


Scott Bright was the hat-trick hero, while Tom Lewis added a brace, with Ian Jones and Zac Manhire completing the border side’s haul.


Veteran Bryn Jones netted a consolation for the stunned Saints.


Llanidloes Town Reserves slipped up in a 1-1 draw at Carno Reserves, with Nick Jones cancelling out a goal from Ross Kenyon.


Berriew Reserves climbed to fourth in the table with a 6-1 hammering of Llanfair United Reserves.


Leon Williams helped himself to a hat-trick with Sam Andrew, Josh Gethin and an own goal all adding to the struggling visitors’ misery.


Waterloo Rovers Colts were indebted to braces apiece from Joe Beddoes and Andrew Downes in a 4-3 victory at home to Llanfechain.


The promotion chasing visitors replied through an own goal and efforts from Dave Marshall and Lloyd Meredith.


Elsewhere Phil Ruell scored twice as Kerry Reserves edged a 3-2 win at bottom of the table Kerry Reserves.


Elliott Smith completed Kerry’s tally, while Mark Roberts and Dafydd Evans kept Banw in contention.
 

* JAMIE Smart came back to haunt his former club with the winning goal in Abermule’s 3-2 extra-time victory at Kerry in the Llansanffraid Village Cup quarter finals.


Goals from Sam Morgan and Carl Danson were insufficient for Kerry as Rob Bayliss and Huw McGrath goals forced extra-time.


However Abermule were not to be denied their triumph and with time running out Smart lobbed the derby winner to break his former club’s hearts.


Elsewhere a solitary strike from Sam Jones earned Bettws a 1-0 win at Defaid Du.
