Llandrindod Wells has returned to the tennis map following a successful year few summers.

The Spa town was historically a tennis town, with several courts attached to the big hotels, courts along Western Promenade and beside the Grand Pavilion where the town’s club, Llandrindod Wells Lawn Tennis Club, is still based.

The Llandrindod club enjoyed a stellar 2022 with their men’s team winning promotion from the Dunlop Montgomery League 2022 Division Three with a 100 per cent winning record.

OTHER NEWS:

Building on last year’s success, Llandrindod Wells doubled down with John Lloyd MBE captaining a new men’s second team in the third division while Peter Haigh captained the men’s first team in division two as both sides were looking to secure promotions.

They achieved this with an incredible 100 per cent win rate for both teams meaning that for two seasons running Llandrindod’s tennis men have been ‘The Invincibles.’

County Times:

Team captain Peter Haigh was delighted with the success and said: “We are delighted that both of our teams retained a 100 per cent win rate and we look forward to the challenges next season.

“What would we really love for next year is to get mixed and ladies teams going and to build up the junior coaching on offer.

“It would be amazing if we could bring some juniors through into the teams.”

The club invites any aspiring members to get in touch via its social media pages.
