NEWTOWN High School has enjoyed a stellar sporting year.

The school’s under 15s boys team reached the Welsh Schools Cup semi-finals while the school also claimed a horde of silverware in county competitions.

The under 15s were crowned Powys under 15s boys sevens rugby champions while the same age group also swept to victory in the NASUWT athletics cup.

The girls under 15s and under 13s side also toasted NASUWT glory.

Meanwhile the under 13s boys football team were crowned North Powys champions while the boys under 14s won the North Powys Cricket tournament.

Individual success was headlined by Libby Isaac, an emerging young footballer on the books of TNS under 15s girls who links up with Wales under 15s next month.

A host of students were also selected to represent the region with George Leach, George Jones, Isaac Davies, Rhys Morris, Joe Hughes, Lewis Gorman and Jack Williams earning RGC South under 15s honours.

Davies and Gorman were joined by Tim Davies and Tai Jones  in representing Powys schoolboys under 15s football side.

Niall Ben tley, Aimee Clarke, Ella Williams, Tayla Trigg and Cai Jones represented Powys in athletics while Olivia Robson, Libby Isaac, Megan Costall and Tom Davies represented Wales in the UK Indoor Schools Games.

Katie Shackleton was joined by Katie Wilson, Kate Hughes and Tayla Trigg in the Mid Wales netball development squad while Shackleton, Tom Parry, Leah Ralp, Megan Costall and Ylissia Jarvis also represented the county tunble and vault team.

The school also annointed several silver ambassadors in recognition of their sporting prowess with Josh Wall, Lewis Gorman, Tayla Trigg and Elis Tudor recognised.
