THE spirit of sportsmanship and football were the real winners in the Andrew Lloyd Football Festival.

Players from all over the area formed teams to play in the festival in Forden and to pay their respects to Andrew, a keen footballer, who lost his life in an accident.

The tournament was won by the Snake Catchers who beat Forden New Boys in the final which was played in glorious conditions.

The tournament was well supported by the local community which turned out in force for the event.

As well as football the festival also offered attractions for the entire family with a fun day organised.

Villagers enjoyed an exotic zoo hosted by ‘Animal Man’ Scott Adams who has also appeared on Blue Peter and the Alan Titchmarsh Show.

Soccerholics were also on hand to provide football excitement for local youngsters who were also catered for by Trehafren Children Centre.

A bouncy castle and face painting ensured a fun day out for all.

Organisers would like to thank all who supported the event, including Mid Wales Bouncy Castles and Rush Fancy Dress.

Andrew’s mum and organiser Suzanne Rowlands said: “It was a great day all round, the weather was lovely and the community enjoyed the football and activities.”
