THE New Saints have snapped up former Northern Ireland under 21 international Ryan Brobbel.

The former Middlesbrough youngster has joined the Dafabet Welsh Premier champions following a brief spell at Northern Premier League side Whitby Town.

Brobbel had been with Middlesbrough from the age of five and signed a three year professional contract with the Riverside club them in 2011.

The 22 year old has also had spells with York City and Hartlepool United while formerly a member of both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland training camps.

The winger played for Northern Ireland at under 17, under 18 and under 19 teams before making his debut for the under 21s in a 3-0 away defeat against Malta in May 2013.

Brobbel scored for the under 21s in a 2-1 home defeat to Serbia in a 2015 UEFA European Under 21 Championship qualification match en route to winning nine caps.

Brobbel said: “I am buzzing at joining TNS and being back in full-time football.

“Hopefully I can help the club win the Welsh Premier and progress in the UEFA Champions League in the summer.”

Meanwhile the Saints have parted company with striker Jamie Reed by mutual consent.

The 28 year old striker Reed was signed by TNS in November 2014 after returning to the United Kingdom after a year in Australia playing for South Melbourne.

The former Wrexham, Bangor City, York City and Chester player has since signed for ambitious Dafabet Welsh Premier rivals MBi Llandudno.
