BERRIEW host Huws Gray Alliance side Penrhyncoch in one of the ties of the first round of the JD Welsh Cup on Saturday.

The MMP-NL Mid Wales League One side go into the tie without Drew Cook, Charlie Humphreys and George Mitten.

Manager Dave Jones said: “Penrhyn have a good manager who always makes sure his teams are competitive. We are under no illusions as to the size of the task we face.

“We are without a few which has been the norm for us so far this season.”

Penrhyn manager Gari Lewis praised their hosts and warned his side to expect a tough game.

“I have a lot of time for Berriew as a club and I am sure they will feel they have a great chance on their own pitch,” said Lewis.

Caersws host Huws Gray Alliance side Holywell Town with the villagers bidding to cause an upset.

“It’ s a good test for the players,” said manager Mark Griffiths. “We want a response after last week and perhaps losing to Llanidloes will get the lads extra motivated for Saturday.

“Holywell are managed by a former Caersws player in Gareth Sudlow so I am sure he will prepare his squad but we can go also go into this tie with a lot of confidence.”

Llanfair United are also in Welsh Cup action with manager Rhys Stephens leading his side to Wrexham League side Hawarden Rangers.

Stephens said: “We played them three years ago and we can expect another tough game as you always do against sides from Wrexham.”
