ALUN Hughes struck twice as Llanfair United kept pace with the leading back in MMP-NL Mid Wales League One with a 3-0 win over Churchstoke.
Josh Astley maintained his bright early form to complete United’s tally and ensure Churchstoke’s wait for a first win of the season continued.
New Churchstoke manager Gary Jones remained upbeat and insisted the Marketmen would soon turn the corner and climb the table.
“It was an improved performance and with five reserve players featuring on the day I am quite happy with our progress so far,” said the ex-Maesyrhandir manager.
Meanwhile Will Thomas maintained his goal laden form with five goals as Welshpool Town ran riot in a 9-1 win at Tywyn Bryncrug.
Joint player-manager Neil Pryce added a brace while further goals from Josh Morgan and Ricky Litchfield completed an emphatic verdict for the Lilywhites with Dave Jenkins netting a consolation.
Elsewhere the heavy rain ensured Aberaeron’s clash with Kerry and Bow Street’s meeting with Carno were postponed along with Llandrindod Wells’ fixture with Berriew.
Radnor Valley’s derby with Builth Wells was also a victim of the weekend weather.
