THE Central Wales Cup kicks off on Saturday with Trewern United’s clash at home to Waterloo Rovers the tie of the first round.

Trewern spokesman Scott Beddoes said: "We are looking forward to our game against local rivals Waterloo.

"In the past we have had some tough battles but hopefully our good form of late will help us in what will surely be another challenging test."

Elsewhere in the draw Machynlleth will bid to avoid an upset at home to Forden United while Penparcau bid to complete a shock at home to Rhayader Town and Four Crosses host derby rivals Llanymynech.

Forden manager Jonny Roberts said: "Forden are looking forward to a tough challenge away at Machynlleth this Saturday.

"It'll be a good test to see what level the boys are playing at. We've got ambitions to be playing at the same level as our opposition so this will be a good test for us.

Recent new signing Dan Bath and resigned Brad Carr both had their first taste of football this season for us last Saturday, with both playing really well.

"Hopefully they'll add a lot to the squad and give us a boost to get through these next run of fixtures."
