Builth Wells 28

BUILTH Wells made a welcome return to winnings ways with victory at Cwmavon in division two west central of the Swalec League.

The Bulls started with attacking intent with No8Ashley Mills breaking down the blind side to feed centre Gethin Lewis who released wing Rhys Lewis to cross for the opening try.

Dan Davies extended the Bulls lead with a penalty before the Port Talbot hosts hit back with a try from Scott Roberts.

However Builth had the final say of the half with Davies’ drop goal giving his side a six point lead.

Davies kicked another penalty at the start of the second-half as the Bulls took control with their dominant scum paving the way for a try from captain Rhys Davies.

Tom Samuel broke to feed wing Seb Barrett to cross for their final try with Davies once again converting.

Cwmavon rallied and had the final say when Jonathan Mitzen crossed for a last gasp try but was only a consolation as Builth made the return trip home triumphant.

Manager Simon John said: “ It is just nice to get back to winning ways again after the disappointment of the past few weeks.”

Meanwhile Builth Wells also tasted success in the Blues North Youth Plate with a 14-3 win at Dowlais.

Despite trailing to an early penalty the Bulls hit back with a penalty try before tries from Steffan Towns.

The Bulls were dealt a blow when hooker Dylan Williams sustained a fractured leg midway through the second-half which disrupted the flow of the game.

However the young Bulls comfortably saw out the remainder of the tie to ensure themselves a place in the draw for the next round and maintain their bright start to the campaign.
