TOM Evans completed a hat-trick as Montgomery Town produced an MMP-NL Mid Wales League Cup first round upset with a 4-0 win at home to Churchstoke.

Evans starred with a hat-trick with an own goal completing a comfortable derby win for the Canaries.

Elsewhere Builth Wells battled to a 3-0 win at Newbridge with Lee James and Tom Bethell on target before Luke Hicks completed the scoring.

Meanwhile Abermule won a thrilling Dingle derby with a 3-1 win shoot out win over Kerry following a 3-3 draw.

Dave Laird put through his own net to give Kerry the lead before Mule hit back through Jack Weaver.

Mule led through Huw McGrath before Luke Mumford’s free-kick restored parity for the Lambs who soon led through Ben Davies before Shane Davies headed home Laird’s free-kick to level and send the tie to extra-time and penalties with Mule holding their nerve to progress.

Llansantffraid strolled to a 5-0 derby win at home to Four Crosses with Nathan Buckley netting twice while Bailee Austin, Wayne Austin and Tom Ring completed the tally.

Elsewhere Dolgellau completed an upset with Kieran Jones and David Edwards netting in a 2-0 win at Tywyn Bryncrug while a last gasp Kieran McCarley free-kick saw Llandrindod Wells edge a 1-0 win at Presteigne.

Will Thomas starred with a hat-trick as Welshpool Town overcame Waterloo Rovers 5-1 in the cross town derby while Josh Morgan and Sam Evans completed the scoring with Chris Proctor reducing the arrears.

Carno made light work of Machynlleth with Richie Evans and Andy Evans leading the way with doubles while Harry Holt completed a 5-0 win.
