BERRIEW host Caersws in the MMP-NL Mid Wales League One match of the day on Saturday.

The unbeaten Bluebirds arrive as title favourites and scheduled to host league leaders Radnor Valley on Tuesday.

Berriew manager David Jones said: “Caersws are favourites and rightly so given the resources at their disposal in comparison to the majority of teams. We are aiming for a top six finish so this will be a big test.

"We have had a promising start to our league campaign, winning six of our first eight games and, with the exception of the game away to Kerry where we were atrocious, overall I have been very pleased with our performances.

"This is all the more pleasing as we have had things far from all our own way and have had to deal with our fair share of bad luck, including suffering a large number of injuries and suspensions already this season meaning we have only had our full squad available for the first couple of games so far."

Defender Drew Cook is unavailable while forward Xavier Matisse misses the game with a knee injury.

Marc Jones, George Mitten, Joe Haycock and Richard Davies are also injury doubts

Meanwhile Llanfair United and Llanidloes Town also meet at Mount Field in another early season six pointer on Saturday.

Friday night league cup derby clashes also pit Welshpool Town against Waterloo Rovers and Llansantffraid at home to Four Crosses.

Rovers spokesman Dave Proctor said: “We are the underdogs but we are looking to cause an upset. We hope the game will be a good advert for football in the town and the Mid Wales League in general.

Meanwhile Crosses manager Mike Barton said: “Everyone is desperate to play and we make the short trip with 20 players.

“It’s a game everyone at the club has looked forward to since the draw was made.”

Crosses welcome back Ollie Jones from injury.
