RADNOR opened their South Wales Women’s League One season with a 3-1 win at home to Dinefwr on Saturday.

Goals from Rhian Farmer, Llinos Samuel and Gwen Samuel ensured a successful opening day for the hosts.

Elsewhere Newtown opened their campaign in the North West Midlands Premier Men’s League with a 3-2 defeat at Finchfield with Aohdan O’Regan and Andy Denham netting for Town.

This weekend sees the start of the North Wales Women’s League season.

With the all weather surface at Welshpool’s Flash Leisure Centre now fixed following drainage issues the focus turns to the opening day derby as Llanfair Caereinion host Newtown with a 10.30am push back.

Elsewhere Welshpool hit the road with an opening day trek to Pwllheli.

The fixture list sees a flurry of Mid Wales derbies in the opening weeks of the season with Welshpool hosting Llanfair on October 13.

It is Newtown’s Maldwyn Leisure Centre’s turn to be centre stage on October 20 with Newtown welcoming bitter local rivals Welshpool to their ground while Llanfair entertain first division newcomers Caernarfon on the same day.

The opening spell of fixtures concludes with Newtown making the trip to Caernarfon while Llanfair travel to Ardudwy on November 3.

Meanwhile Montgomery will also be competing in the Shropshire Women’s League this season and travel to Ludlow on Saturday.
