Rhiwbina 61 Builth Wells 8

BUILTH Wells endured a miserable day in Rhiwbina as their WRU Plate bid fell at the first hurdle.

The first division Cardiff-based side never looked back after Danny Murphy crossed the whitewash for the opening try almost directly from kick-off with Lewis Pearce converting his first points of the day.

Dan Davies replied with a penalty for Builth but Rhiwbina stormed back to cross for further tries.

Builth were their own worst enemy at times with three players receiving yellow cards as Paul Smythe crossed for a brace of tries while Jamie Deabreau and Olly Golden also went over with Pearce adding three conversions.

Despite their numerical disadvantage the Bulls had the final say of the half with Rhys Lewis crossing for a try.

Rhiwbina were similarly dominant after the break with Murphy crossing for a second try while Pat Howell also went over before Mike Curtis and Alex Kerr completed the try count while Pearce successfully kicked four conversions.
