LLANYMYNECH ended runners-up in the grand final of the 2018 Coronation Foursomes.

The competition is recognised among the leading events for female players with the final contested at St Andrews’ Eden course.

Only 16 teams from across England, Scotland and Wales made it to the final.

Julia Line and Norma Hughes were runners up in the final with 36 stableford points, just two behind the eventual winners.

Meanwhile Sue McMahon (21) won the All Winners Salver with a nett 75 with Sandra Griffiths (24) second with 77 while the medal was won by Sue Bonsall (20) with a nett 81.

Lakeside

AMANDA Ord-Dando (15) won the Elaine Willetts Bowl with a nett 68.

Diane Pugh (22) led the challenge in second place with 69 while Margaret Evans (32) completed the podium in third with 71.

Meanwhile Adrian Davies (25) beat Brian Dando (15) on the countback to win the Long John Salver with a nett 64 with Andrew Wyatt (13) third with 68.

Kevin Lloyd won the gross competition, edging out Dando and Leon Duvalier on the countback with 79.

The club’s Grant’s Day competition was won by Garry Jones (12) on the countback from Danny Miles (13) and Nuck Rawlings (12) with each ending on 39 points.

Lloyd (10) also won the club’s latest club championship round with 62, seeing off Vojka Turner (28) on the countback while Anthony Laughlin (29) also needed a card play-off to seal third after being joined by Sam Davies (25) on 63.

Meanwhile Brendan Weaver tops the club championship after two rounds with a total of 151 with Lloyd second with 155 while Alan Davies, Marius Van Lill and Joe Davies lead the pursuit with each on 156.

Llandrindod Wells

LLANDRINDOD Wells Golf Club is the home of a new national champion.

Thirteen year old Zak Baker was crowned Welsh under 14s boys champion after topping the field at Porthmadog Golf Club.

Despite testing conditions the teenager completed the course with a 78 gross to take the title.

Baker is a member of the Wales Golf National Academy A squad and currently plays off a handicap of six.
