Berriew Junior Football Club has been named the FAW Trust and McDonalds’ Central Wales Community Club of the Year

Head coach Paul Inns has also been recognised in the annual awards with the Outstanding Achievement award.

Matthew Bufton of Builth Wells Football Club was named Young Volunteer of the Year with Melina Holmes of Penrhyncoch the Volunteer of the Year and Amlyn Ifans of Bow Street the Community Coach of the Year.

The Mid and North Powys was crowned Junior League of the Year.

Inns said: “I’m delighted that Berriew FC Juniors have once again been recognised for the efforts the club makes in the community.

“Last season we had 223 players, 56 of whom were girls and more than 30 coaches with another seven starting their leaders award in November.

“I’ve been involved in coaching for 10 years and it has been a wonderful experience to develop Berriew into the Club it now is, and for it to be held in such high regard throughout not only Central Wales, but also Wales.”

“I’m delighted the league has been recognised for what it has achieved over recent years, including the launch of a Winter League, which is a credit to chairman Vaughan Harding an the rest of the hard working committee.”
