Llanrhaeadr 0
Flint Town Utd 1
LLANRHAEADR could not make their numerical advantage count as their testing start to the season continued with defeat against Flint.
Andy Brown had the ball in the back of the net inside the opening few minutes only to be denied by the referee for an infringement.
However Brown continued to lead the Deesiders attack with his headed effort flashing wide before Brandon Burrows shook the woodwork from distance with Brown also dragging a shot wide from six yards as Flint dominated.
Flint’s well known indiscipline was once again evident on the stroke of half-time with Sam Hart seeing red after lashing out at Dan Weaver following a reckless challenge.
The 10 men started the second-half on top and led inside the opening minute when Richie Foulkes shot into a crowded area with Damien Ketley steering past an unsighted Connor Lee
Llanrhaeadr took the game to the Deesiders with Iwan Matthews shot blocked by Jake Hampson on the hour with penalty appeals for handball rejected.
Llanrhaeadr almost levelled with 10 minutes remaining with Joe Vaughan’s right wing cross picking out Chris Aitken on the far post whose powerful header forced Flint goalkeeper Chris Sanna into a superb save to ensure his side the spoils.
LLANRHAEADR: Lee, M Evans (Graham 85), D Evans, Weaver (K Evans 60), G Evans, Kelly, T Evans, Vaughan, Griffiths, Matthews, Wytton (Aitken 75), Subs: Bailey, Haynes
